Dynamic Signage Coming to Laval in 2025

As part of the City of Laval’s ongoing efforts to improve winter road maintenance, a brand‑new dynamic parking signage system will be introduced starting in the 2025 winter season. These solar‑powered illuminated signs are designed to make parking rules clearer, more predictable, and easier for everyone to follow—especially during snow removal and street‑cleaning operations.

How the New System Works

Flashing Illuminated Sign — Parking Prohibited

When the sign is flashing, it means that maintenance operations are either planned or currently underway.

During a flashing period:

• Parking is strictly prohibited on the side of the street where the sign is illuminated.

• Typical restricted hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including weekends (unless otherwise indicated).

• Signs will activate several hours in advance, giving residents enough time to move their vehicles.

Sign Switched Off — Parking Permitted

When the illuminated sign is off, it indicates that no maintenance operations are in progress, and parking is allowed on that side of the street.
