A Critical Reminder About Fire Safety
At 638 Rue Pouliot, Laval, we recently experienced a fire incident on Saturday Feb 1, 2025 in our building that serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety awareness and vigilance.
The fire was caused by unattended candles left on a plastic table in a resident’s apartment.
Thankfully, due to the swift response of the fire department and the remarkable fire-resistant properties of our building’s concrete structure, the fire was contained to a single room, preventing what could have been a much more devastating event.
The attending firefighter even noted that in the building, the concrete structural design played a crucial role in limiting the spread of the blaze.
While we are relieved that no one was seriously injured and the damage was minimal, this incident underscores the critical need for every one of us to adopt proactive fire safety measures. Leaving candles unattended, especially on flammable surfaces, is an accident waiting to happen. A moment of inattention can lead to irreversible consequences.
Here are a few fire safety tips to keep in mind:
Never leave candles or open flames unattended. Always place them on sturdy, non-flammable surfaces.
Smoke Detectors: Never ever temper nor remove any smoke detectors installed in your unit.
Kitchen Safety: Never leave cooking unattended. Keep flammable items away from the stove.
This incident is a powerful reminder that fire safety is everyone’s responsibility. By staying vigilant and mindful, we can protect ourselves, our neighbors, and our community. Let’s work together to ensure our building remains a safe place for everyone.
